'Trump House' blamed for serious car accident

A home in Pennsylvania has been nicknamed the "Trump House" since the owner opted to make the house a shrine in honor of Donald Trump when he was running for president.

That owner is now facing a lawsuit. A woman was involved in a car accident near the house in October 2016. She claims that the home was a distraction and caused the wreck that involved another driver hitting her vehicle.

That second driver was interested in looking at the elaborate display and attempted a left turn to get a closer look. Unfortunately, that turn put the car in the path of the woman's vehicle, and the two cars collided.

The woman is now seeking damages in excess of $30,000. The person who owns the home, who created the shrine, did not respond when asked for comment on the pending lawsuit.

Among other things, the house features an American flag paint-job and a cutout of the current president. That cutout is 12 feet tall, and it waves at passing cars as they go by.

Distraction on America's roads is very real, and it causes a high percentage of car accidents. Many people first think of cellphone use when considering distraction, and it's true that phones pose a serious threat. However, this story does a good job of showing how almost anything outside of the car can become a distraction when it takes a person's attention away from driving the vehicle.

Anyone who gets hurt in a distracted driving accident should know the various options available in seeking financial compensation from the ones responsible for the crash.  If you've been involved in a distracted driving accident or other personal injury matter, contact the Quinn Law Firm at 814-833-2222 for a free consultation so we can discuss the options available to you.
