On May 9, 2017 Quinn Law Firm attorneys Darlene Vlahos and Colleen Stumpf will be presenting a free educational seminar hosted by Erie Federal Credit Union on Estate Planning. The seminar will include a discussion on the importance of Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney and Advance Helath Care Directives. Additional information can be found at http://www.eriefcu.org.

Attorney Vlahos' practice focuses on the probate and administration of decedent's estates and assisting individuals in obtaining adult guardianships. She also has experience in Estate Planning, including Wills, Powers of Attorney, Health Care Powers of Attorney and Living Wills, as well as Real Estate, Business Law and Incorporations.

Attorney Stumpf's practice focuses on developing estate plans for her clients and the administration of estates of all sizes. She also provides expertise in the areas of trust administration, asset protection, elder law, and guardianship issues. Attorney Stumpf's business law practice includes entity formation for both for-profit and non-profit organizations, structural questions, general counsel, and the development of succession plans.

The Quinn Law Firm supported the Sisters of St. Joseph Neighborhood Network by attending their Guess That Tune Gala on Saturday, April 29th. In attendance from the firm are Attorneys Colleen Stumpf, Jo Alspaugh and Jenna Strohmeyer.

SSJNN provides one-on-one advocacy for the residents, a weekly soup kitchen, emergency assistance with food and hygiene products, community gardens and a wide variety of individualized and small group programs for children and adults. In collaboration with the City of Erie and many other organizations, businesses, and individuals, SSJNN also works toward neighborhood revitalization and community and economic development.

The Quinn Law Firm is a proud sponsor of the Erie County Bar Association's Law Day 5K held on Saturday, November 29, 2016. This annual race benefits the Erie County Bar Association's Attorneys and Kids Together Program, supporting the educational needs of Erie's students living in homeless situations and the Erie Runners Club Scholarship Fund. John McCandless presented at the National Business Institute's Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist Law Made Simple seminar on April 28, 2017. Attorney McCandless' presentation focused on the fundamentals of Pennsylvania uninsured and underinsured motorist laws, insurance carrier obligations and ethics surrounding the handling of these cases.

Attorney McCandless represents injured victims of automobile, truck, boating and motorcycle accidents, dangerous products, dangerous roads and highways, work place accidents, dangerous premises and professional negligence, and also represents people who are the victims of insurance "bad faith." His practice also includes commercial, contract and subrogation litigation and other, general civil litigation matters.

The Quinn Law Firm is pleased to announce that Andrew M. Schmidt has become a Shareholder of the firm, effective October 2016. Attorney Schmidt is a member of the Quinn Law Firm's litigation practice group and his practice primarily involves insurance defense, commercial litigation, and real estate related litigation. The Quinn Law Firm was a proud supporter of The Erie County Bar Association's Wills for Heroes program on Saturday, September 24, 2016. The Wills for Heroes program offers Wills, Powers Of Attorney and Health Care Directives at no cost to veterans and first responders in the Erie community. Attorneys Valerie Kuntz and Jenna Strohmeyer served on the event's Planning Committee and also volunteered their time and services on the day of the event along with Attorney Darlene Vlahos and a number of Quinn Law Firm support staff members.

John Gugliotta joins The Quinn Law Firm

Attorney GugliottaThe Quinn Law Firm is pleased to announce Attorney John Gugliotta has joined the firm and will lead their Intellectual Property department. Attorney Gugliotta specializes in Intellectual Property Application and Prosecution, with experience in Patent, Copyright, and Trademark protection services and IP counseling including monitoring and guiding of research at the idea stage to determine avenues of patentability, marketability, licensability, and enforceability; referral of inventions to joint venturers, OEM production facilities and independent contractors for production and sale. Attorney Gugliotta is also a Professional Engineer which allows him to better assist clients in the overall protection of technology based Intellectual Property. He received his Bachelor of Science undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University in 1985. Attorney Gugliotta earned his Juris Doctorate from Cleveland State University, Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 1993. He is licensed to practice in the United States District Courts for the Western District of Pennsylvania and Northern District of Ohio, the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the United States Supreme Court, and the State of Ohio.

The Quinn Law Firm is proud to announce the addition of Attorney Darlene M. Vlahos and Attorney Melissa L. Larese to the firm. The addition of Attorney Vlahos and Attorney Larese provides the Quinn Law Firm the opportunity to expand the estate planning, tax planning, estate administration, real estate and corporate law services available to its clients.

Attorney Vlahos has been practicing law for over thirty years and is transitioning her practice to The Quinn Law firm in order to offer her clients the broad array of legal services the firm has available with its talented 24 attorneys and 23 staff members. Attorney Vlahos previously worked for the Quinn Law firm from 1984-1988. She also worked at Commercial Intertech in Youngstown, Ohio as a corporate attorney concentrating in the area of employee benefits before returning to Erie and opening her own law firm in 1993. Attorney Vlahos received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Gannon University, a Master in Accounting from Syracuse University and a Master of Taxation and Juris Doctor from the University of Akron.

Attorney Larese relocated to Erie in 2012, joining Attorney Vlahos' law practice in 2014. She graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts from Gannon University and received her Juris Doctor from Duquesne University School of Law.

In March 2016 Attorney Jo Alspaugh served as a panelist for Edinboro University's Women's Philanthropy Council's presentation on "Women to Women: An Authentic Mentoring Discussion." The presentation addressed student questions and concerns relating to the panelists' careers as well as provided students with mentoring opportunities.

Attorney Alspaugh's practice includes representing individuals to handle various family law issues including divorce, spousal support, child support, child custody and other domestic law matters. Attorney Alspaugh is also a trained Collaborative Lawyer, offering Collaborative Law alternative dispute resolution services when appropriate and selected by the client.

In March 2016 Attorney Colleen Stumpf served as guest speaker at the Erie County Bar Association's seminar on "The Interaction of Powers of Attorney and Guardianships," covering how powers of attorney can be used to avoid guardianship actions and how guardianship proceedings are handled.

In February 2016, Attorney George Joseph provided Teacher In-Service Training for a local Erie County school district. Attorney Joseph spoke on the topics of Special Education for the Regular Education Teacher, Reportable Offenses under Act 24 and Act 82, Transgendered Students, and Teachers and Social Media.

In January 2016, Attorney George Joseph presented a seminar on Special Education Issues to the local school districts' Supervisors of Special Education at IU-5 in Edinboro. The presentation covered lessons learned from due process complaints, writing IEPs, Child Find obligations, bullying of special needs students, and transgendered students.

Attorney Colleen R. Stumpf served on two panel discussions in October 2015 on the topic of "Caring for Each Other: Using a Catholic Perspective in Making Difficult Medical Decisions." The discussions were presented by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Erie and focused on the medical, legal and pastoral aspects of caring for the sick and dying.

Jenna Strohmeyer, Mary Faller and Karen Couse of the Quinn Law Firm volunteered on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015, at the Erie County Bar Association's Wills for Heroes event, at which wills, powers of attorney, and living wills were prepared for over 50 "heroes" and their spouses. The program serves local veterans and first responders (fire, police, and EMS). To all of our local heroes - thank you for your service and for keeping us safe in Erie County!

Jenna M.K. StrohmeyerThe Quinn Law firm is pleased to announce that Jenna M.K. Strohmeyer joined the firm as its newest associate. Attorney Strohmeyer specializes in municipal and land use law as well as environmental law and general litigation, and has dealt with cases involving zoning, permitting, and right of way issues as well as governmental wetland mitigation measures. Ms. Strohmeyer graduated from Florida International University with a B.A. in Philosophy and received her Juris Doctorate from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale. Attorney Strohmeyer is licensed to practice in Florida and Pennsylvania.

The Quinn Law Firm supported the Russian Orthodox Church's 2015 Troika Festival over Memorial Day Weekend by serving as a team of guest bartenders at the festival's ice bar. Over $6,700 in tips collected by the various teams throughout the weekend were donated to the community outreach prong of the church's mission.

The Quinn Law Firm is proud to support the Erie County Bar Association’s Kid Konnection, a short-term mentoring program with the objective of educating, building trust, offering role models, providing positive life experiences and building self-esteem to children from one of several local shelters. Kid Konnection began in 1999 and is the Erie County Bar Association’s signature community project. This year, Paul F. Burroughs, Andrew M. Schmidt and Jo L. Alspaugh participated in the 2015 program which paired each of them with a child and they, along with other paired attorneys and students, participate in approximately six organized, structured events that take place over a four month period.
